Hunt Where You Live

Doornkloof Tented Camp in the Wild

Cowley Safaris’ Doornkloof Tented Camp is set deep in the bush, far from roads, towns, and outside noise. This is a true in-the-land hunting camp—built for hunters who want to live where they hunt.

The camp consists of seven high-walled safari tents on concrete slabs, connected by stone pathways with low-level lighting for safe movement at night. The open camp design keeps you close to the bush—hearing the night, smelling the veld, and waking with first light.

Each Tentco Sahara Deluxe tent is simple, comfortable, and functional, featuring two single beds, quality bedding, interior lighting, and a veranda for boots, rifles, and gear. The tents remain cool after long days tracking on foot.

Ablutions are housed in restored stone structures dating back to the late 1800s, with hot water supplied by gas geysers and motion-sensor lighting for night access.

At the heart of camp is a large stone fire boma — the natural gathering point at the end of the day. Fires are lit, meals are prepared, and stories are shared under the stars.

Adjacent to the boma is a stone-built, thatched-roof lapa serving as the main living area, complete with a bar, lounge seating, communal dining table, braai area, and splash pool for cooling off after hot days in the veld.

The camp operates fully off-grid on solar power. There is no cell reception, reinforcing the feeling of isolation. This is not a lodge — it is a working hunting camp in the wild, practical, comfortable, and deeply connected to the land.

Arendskrans – Private Bush Camp

Arendskrans is a small, private bush camp set in a quiet valley on the edge of a natural dam, offering seclusion, comfort, and uninterrupted views of the water and surrounding bush. It is ideal for hunters who value privacy and a slower rhythm after long days in the field.

Positioned away from main camp activity, Arendskrans delivers a calm, intimate atmosphere where mornings begin with birdlife and evenings end as game moves down to drink.

The camp consists of two en-suite bungalows, each furnished with a queen-size bed and side table. Both units feature thatched roofs and open onto a wooden balcony overlooking the dam.

Each bungalow includes a private en-suite bathroom with shower and basin, powered by solar energy, providing reliable hot water while remaining fully off-grid.

The central entertainment area is a thatched-roof structure with aluminium sliding doors, designed as a practical and comfortable gathering space. It includes a small bar, a large dining table, a compact kitchen, and a bathroom, making the camp fully self-contained.

Outside, a roof-covered open lounge overlooks the dam and valley below, while a separate deck built over the water—complete with a fire boma—forms the heart of the camp in the evenings.

Arendskrans operates fully off-grid, with satellite internet and a television available when needed. This is not a lodge—it is a private bush camp set in the land, simple, comfortable, and positioned right on the water.
